The crisis in local journalism has become a crisis for our democracy. Over the past decade, LPM has counteracted the decline in newsrooms by investing in more local civic news. We created the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, the Ohio Valley ReSource and doubled the size of our daily newsroom at WFPL. While other news outlets make cuts, we’ve grown our newsroom to 29-strong.

Your donations and our partnership with Report for America have helped make that growth possible.

Report for America is a national program that matches local newsrooms with reporters who provide in-depth coverage on under-reported issues and communities. Louisville Public Media has proudly partnered with RFA since 2020 and now employs three corps members in our newsroom.

John Boyle is a reporter and editor for WFPL reporting on Southern Indiana. Jasmine Demers covers issues related to youth and social services for KyCIR. Patricia Borns covers the wealth and poverty gap in Louisville and rural Kentucky for KyCIR.

These reporters are serving our community thanks in-part to Report for America. Your support shows that you value this reporting and want to help make our local civic newsroom sustainable.
